Thumbs down scam

Hello, I just got this email yesterday the fellow goes buy the name of marion lemar. I posted the tires here on the classified boards and he e-mailed me dirrect with this.

Hello mlvette69,
Thanks for the prompt response, and also for accepting the offer to sell it to me, i am set to go and he accepts to pay the price i.e $700.00. Again I am particularly impressed by the prompt attention accorded the matter considering the need for us to conclude the dealing a timely manner. And i will instruct my accountant to issue the payment to you in Us Cashier Cheque .The paymentthat will be send to you will include the shippingcost,so all you need to do is that as soon as you receive the cheque and get it clear you are to deduct your cost and send the excess fund back to settle the shipping agent that will be coming for the pickup in your location.Let me read from you so that i can instruct my accountant to issue the payment to you.Let me have the name that will be written on the cheque and the address where to send the cheque to,your phone number is as well needed so that i can contact you as soon as the payment is on the way.Looking forward to read from you.
Thanks

I had the same thing happen on an old Honda atv I wanted to sell and listed with another web site. I emailed the guy back and told him he was nuts.....haven't heard anything back. I also told him I forwarded his email the the administrator of the web site, since they wanted to know about such scams.

I strung one along for almost 3 weeks... he would email me, I would reply back asking some question, he would answer then ask for the payment... I would say I didn't get the return address right.... it was fun.... they where really excited that I might have fallen for it... but I finally got tired of the game and had their email blocked.

We had one try something that at my old hotel. She wanted the bank routing info and so on so that she could wire the money in. I told her that our bank had been destroyed in a terrorist attack. All she wanted was another branch location. Lately, they have been trying to scam hotels because our customer service policies say that we have to be nice to people.

Here's a link to the United States Secret Service for reporting these issues and for starting the process to try to get any lost monies back on these particular scams:

United States Secret Service Email Scam Contact Information

If I ever got solicited by them, I'd string them along long enough to get a phone number and physical mailing address. Then I'd pass it on to the U.S. Secret Service. Who knows maybe they will perform an international sting operation some day to round up some of these losers.
