Can't find Ignition control module E150

Pick up coil removal
I don't know for sure if the pick-up coil is bad or not but at this point, for $15 I'll take a chance and go ahead and change it.There is a plate (see pic ) that the stattor bolts to that I cant get off. Autozone said to remove the dist. I took off the hold down bolt and cant get the dist to move?

It looks like you have to press the gear off and pull the shaft out. I did read in one of my books that they had problems with the stator when it first came out. Oil mist would come up the dist shaft and the oil softened the plastic on the stator, making it fail.
