I just finished my 10K mod and shimmed the FPR and installed the Sonnax on my '95 4x4 crew. What a difference! Everything works great. I put my 10K on a switch and also put a switch on the go pedal. It didn't really idle bad without the switch on the pedal but it is nice to have the RPM's go back down when stopped.
Now a question for you. Can I leave the 10K on when towing or should I shut it off? I haven't put my gauges in yet so I was curious if it was okay to tow with it. I tow a 8000# travel trailer and every weekend a 3000# racecar.
Thanks guys! Great info on this site! Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing all your wisdom!
I have towed with the 10k "on" and did not see any difference in EGTs. But, I would definitely recommend you install gauges. Being you upped the fuel pressure also, with the 10k, there might be a slight increase in EGT.
Has anyone gotten any torque or horsepower figures on the 10K? I know it isn't a huge amount and have read that it just moves your peak torque lower in the RPM range but was curious if anyone has any dyno numbers on this for a OBS.
i did the 10K mod a while ago and i was towing my 17 1/2 ski boat and i got the SES light , not too sure what it was about cause i dont have a code reader, but some guys on here told me that it was either too much turbo boost or that it was telling me that i was getting too much fuel for the injectors cause of the mod, i guess it is normal to get the SES light coming on with the 10K. at least thats what i understood??
I did the 10K Mod 2 weeks ago and noticed a definite difference. There is only one big hill around here and she pulled up there will minimal throttle input. Kinda nice. Also, the throttle response has really picked up. The Kwik filter is supposed to help that too, but I've been waiting for 3 weeks so far for the filter and it's still not in!!!
I noticed a big improvement with the FPR shim as well.
