Sounds like a lemon. Are you running huge tires or something?

sounds like the dealer/tech isnt setting up the rearend right.they may be over tighting the pinion preload,or to loose. back lash should be set to .008 to .010 max.if the tooth contact is to far out on the heal it will make a ring.good luck.

Ford has a new ring and pinion kit for that applies to 97-2004 f-150 and 02-04 explorers, I put one in my 02 this last week. The gears have a new cut to them to make them quieter and the kit comes with all new bearings also.

Maybe you need to try another dealer/shop, this one doesn't seem to be working...

Who told you that? It's my understanding that you can have warranty repairs done at any authorized dealer.....could be wrong, but that doesn't sound right!

How many miles are on your truck? If it is under 36000 you can go to any ford dealer to get warranty work done, or if you have some type of etxended wty you should call that company and see where they will authorize repair. At my dealer we will work with any wty companys. Maybe you should also try calling ford and complaining about the dealer because if the rear end still whines they should not have let you take it.

if the gear pattern was off somewhat i think you would get wear over a period of time. a loud whine is normally too tight of bearings, or did they reuse the old ones? i go for getting a second opinion, try another dealer. should be able to pop off the sheetmetal cover and just inspect for problems prior to teardown. any good mechanic could do an inspection in an hour and have some idea what is going on.

I have contacted Ford Motor Company and made a complaint. The Dealership is using my extended warranty. I have talked to the extended warranty company. I am trying to get the dealership to call ford and have them come an inpect the truck.
