Hi folks. My girlfriends 2003 Nissan Xterra has a fueling problem. The nozzle shuts off continually unless she pumps the gas slow. The check engine light came on Monday after she tried filling the tank. She told me that it would not take the full flow of gas like it did 2 days earlier. She called this morning and told me it was still doing it. Thinking it might be a gas pump problem, she's tried 3 different stations with all the same results. The check engine light is on constantly and the tank won't take full flow from a gas pump nozzle.
She said "ten minutes to pump 20 dollars of gas ain't gonna cut it."
Any ideas of what it might be before she takes it to a dealer? She's an RN in home health and she's needs really drives the heck out of this vehicle.
Thanks.
Richard
It's a defective part, and there is a recall even though Nissan doesn't want to admit it. There are defective parts on vehicles outside the recall time frame, also. The bosses daughter Xterra had this problem, I found out what it was and argued with the dealer. It's a company vehicle, how nice! She hasn't worked there a day in her life, and is on the current employees list.
