The best part of the airplane thing is that I have yet to build one without modifying something. That's easy to do with a wooden kit.
So every one of them has been partly my own ideas, and that makes it even more satisfying to see it all work out.
The whole thing started a long time ago, a school friend and I put an engine into a model of a glider and nearly ripped the wings off on the first flight!
There have been all kinds of strange birds ever since.
thats the fun part in modeling tho, your own personal customizing, ive got a bunch of little mods, that cost me maybe 1-2 bucks a pop. it isnt true gas, its like nitro methanol and nitro sumthin and oil, 25 dollars a gallon, it like the stuff you run in the plan except more of an oil content. i got into it because of a facination, i never had legos ive always had cars, hotwheel rc's, so i went and transitioned into gas about 2 years ago, when i was 13, i bought a traxxas nitro stampede, which was crap, very brittle plasitic, consiberal to glass. that lasted 6 months, i sold it but kept most of the parts, then i bought savage and the plastic on this thing is consiberal to a rubber like plastic it flexes really well, i jumped it over my shed and didnt break anything. it has almost twice the size of motor 10 times the wieght, twice size of supension travel and shocks. 8 shocks about 5 inches of travel, .247 engin compared to a .15 engine, two speed, 4 wheel drive, spyder diffs, optional reverse. i even have a video, pretty crappy, about 11mins long, although i can drive and video tape i put the camera in soem spots where you can see me driving.jumping and mudding, the jumps arent really big because i didt really have a good ramp at the time.
Any ways heres the link to the vid if youd like to view it. about 10mbs ? .wmv tho my video
10 meg would take my dial up about an hour to download. I forgot to mention that the area I live in isn't as advanced as some places. The Flintstones and Rubbles live just down the street, and DSL is something that has not been discovered yet.
I'm trying to remember my engine sizes. A .35 is not necessarily what a .35 used to be. It went metric at some point. I think what I have on the test block in the garage is either a forty or a sixty one, its been that long since I tinkered with it.
I do know that *** .09's and .049's are still the same size they always were, but the bigger engines went from CI to CC a long time ago.
Seems to me it went the other way. My brother once had a redhead .35 that was about the size of a newer .60
I wish I'd found it in my Poppas house after he passed, but so many were through that house it must have gotten swiped.
It was for a "Flying Fool" Bipe that I later built but it was one of the ones lost.
Not many fly control line these days anyhow. It might have been a good "Baby R/C", it was the right size for it. I should see if I still have the plan for it in my saved plan files, that's the other goody about wooden planes - you always have the plans if you take care of them.
ya, im going through my truck putting screws where there supposed to go, id didnt put it in there wrong, i need two more screws...a shock shaft and a 4 rims
I have an "out of the box" a Taminya 1/10 nitro powered 2.1cc AMG touring car.
