hey glen although kal has a good tmaxx its only becuase hes modified it, all after market parts. whcih woudl make it stronger, most people do this on t's due to them breaking repeataly, go to a unbiased dealer, like one that sells t's and savvyys along with other mt's, and look every vechicle over carefully. before you make a decision, ive had what is comparible to a t same material as a t with the same engine, the engine had horrible tuning issures, and the pastic was very very brittle at all tempatures.
I have a team Associated B3 that i tried to race a couple times. I finally figured out that i had more fun in a alley somwhere though. I also have a GT which is great fun most of the time, but i have one hell of a time tunning that little itty bitty carburator. www.teamassociated.com
The first one I had though was one my dad had made for himself before I had any motor skills. A tamiya "frogg" http://www.vintagercweb.com/frog/frog_promo3.jpg
I still have some of it, But the front suspension and the body didn't live through my childhood. I would really like to put it back together somday though.. Anybody know where you can get vintage rc parts?
nice plane, you obivously have room to fly it. my problem with planes is you can set down the controller and walk to go the restroom or w/e. if you crash. or land to hard you can destroy your plane. you can do that to trucks but
when something "pastic" breaks on my maxx I replace it with metal. however its not really plastic, its a nylon fiber mix. its not a brittle plastic like my tamiya rigs were made of, i think the emaxx and tmaxx are made of a different material as of the past few years than the traxxas stuff from before that. my hawk1 is made of different stuff.
but with that said, i bought my emaxx only for the aftermarket parts they make for it. its no fun to keep anything stock for long. rc trucks are no different. i cant afford to bling out my real cars like this, so it is a sense of pride for me to have a truck thats badd to the bone, and I actually play with.
I want a t-maxx just because of the aftermarket parts you can get for it,there's only so much you can do with a 20 year old blackfoot,I already have most aftermarket parts you can get metal sassy chassie all crp replacement plastic or metal parts thorpe rear end and the list goes on,I still break it its just hard to find parts in good shape anymore, keep blowing the rears out of it and Im tired of rebuilding it,if you run it stock it lasts longer but thats not as much fun as running at 30 mph and jumping stuff,I play hard with my cars but there getting to old to keep em going,a new t-maxx or e-maxx is a lot better right out of the box then my stuff is after it is modified.
hey stapler123 the frog is the same as a blackfoot with minor suspension changes all the parts you might need are on ebay keep away from stock front end parts and go with crp or jg mft parts
to make a maxx semi runnable (speaking from expierence) you going to spend about a grand on a full metal makeover, then upgrade the motor cause its slow. remeber metal bends, and when you have a truck made out of metal you will bend parts and they are expensive, 30 bucks for skids plates...they got a kit that allows you to put a .70 on a savvy. owell w/e i can stop you , g et a maxx
i got my maxx used on ebay for $275 it came with 6 batteries and a chrager.
then i added $150 in Rc Raven parts to make it what it is now. the set of A arms, bulkheads and shock towers is going to cost another $200. still thats a long way from $1000. going brushless (way faster motor system) will cost $350. you could build the hottest maxx around for $1000 with ebay, and the parts market there is now.
I want to add rear wheel steering. anyone know of a kit??
I would do it all over again. RC drivers are typically very, very loyal to the brand they are in currently, and its hard to change our minds. so we can agree to disagree. lol.
actually, the tamiya TXT1 is beginning to raise my eyebrows. it also has a huge aftermarket parts supply. and out of the box i think they act more like real monster trucks.
yes kal, there is a rear wheel steer kit, maximizer makes it, try maximizer rc products, in your search bar, they also make beadlocs and dualie tire kit.
i was basing the 1k on the nitro side of things, they seem to be the most expensive to upgrade, becuase usually when one thing is aluminum its all gotta be alu.
hey kal what tires should i get, and rims, (stripped mah hexes)
i need good rimms that will last, the tires well i have an idea maybe maxx mashes, it going to be dirt, packed , grass, mud etc a/t type tire
and now i need a body, i was think a suv due to me scratching my head pretty bad, i might stop by home depot and buy some tubing and mig me up a cage. and some other bracing, make a center skid.
but i dont know what body to get. i was thinking maybe that rockpleazer by proline, it loosk like a 68 bronco except with a curved nose.
