Alright, Anybody else find themselves playing with this for hours?
It is wild, you can zoom right in and everything
I find it quite fascinating and a good time killer as well.
I wonder how often its updated?
Im looking at Austin right now (looks hot)
Yeah, that and google maps are awesome. Especially since they added the 'hybird' feature that layers the map on top of the satelite imagery. I used to need an outragiously expensive mapping program to do that.
AND it lets you easily pan across the map a whole lot easier
It is fun to look around with, but boy does it soak up time. Go to Norfolk Naval Yard you can see planes and helos on deck of carriers. Kind of makes you wonder if they release this to the public what better stuff does the government have?
i *might* know a person who *might* work for a LARGE government entity....he says its AMAZING what technology we *might* have. i'd say more, but gotta protect them and myself....lets just say, in the movie "Behind enemy lines" where they are following him with infared sattelites, its better than that.
Holy cow! How many times is this Google Earth thing going to come up. Im a member of A LOT of forums, and there is a huge craze going on with it. On one forum, there were 3 threads started in the same month about it.
Google World is verry neat, I showed this to my granpa though, and zoomed in on his 2nd house in mexico.. he was pretty impressed.
There is also Nasa World wind.. I similar larger program that does better in some areas and worse in others.. Has some neat features though.. not as good at finding specific places around the world
It is able to overlay different stelites over the terrain.. includuging the usgs topo map
The wife and I are starting to look for larger houses. Google Earth comes in real handy with ruling out some houses because of things we don't want to live by -- high voltage powerlines, etc.
