concussions

Well, I think I did the stupidest thing of my life on friday night.
I was drinking, right after i got home from work (5.00pm) didnt eat dinner, then went out to the bars all night.
I decide when i get home to take the yz250 out for a rip...........NOT a bright idea.
Anyway, I took quite a spill, I was wearing my helmet though (thank god)
Slept for about 4 hrs, then waited for a phone call for work, left town at 5pm and didnt get back til 3 am. Longg day i say.

Ever since ive been laying in bed not doing much, trying to recover, head feels a little weird, stomach not so hot all the time, and tired.
Not going to work tomorrow, but i dont want to miss much work, cant afford to.
Anybody got any advice/? (p.s I will not be drinking anymore )

I'd say you already gave yourself the best advice, don't drink!

As for a possile concussion, you coudl have one but most likely it's your body saying you did somethgin stupid and I now feel like crap and want to sleep.

Best advice I can give for a cure, get some Van Halen, crank it up loud and place the speakers right next to your head.

Sounds like me.

Last Friday night I nailed myself in the head with a winch bar (something similiar to a cheater bar or crow bar) when I was in Hammond, In.

I had nearly 400 pounds of pressure on it & lost my grip. That damn bar came flying back and nailed me along side the right side of my head.

Damn, I gotta tell you it hurt & it put me down on the ground for a few minutes. I would estimate that it still had around 300 pounds of pressure on it when it hit me.

Now I know what people mean when they say they were hit so hard they saw stars, because I was seeing them.

Yeah, head blows arent fun,
All i remember is opening my eyes and spitting out dirt, then getting up only having one shoe on, the fired up the bike with my bare foot (good thing its 2 stroke and brand new, woulda had a hard time and no patience, with an older bike that didnt run so good)

The next morning i found my accident scene(i had no idea where i was when i crashed and got lost on my way home) and there was an excavator there he found my keys and phone, phone was smashed, then later i found my shoe.

Did you knock yourself out parks? Or just went down in pain?

Just went down in pain, but I was down for awhile. Even hurt just trying to open my eyes at first.

Sad thing is I didn't have nobody near to come to my rescue if needed. I had one hell of a welt on my head at first & was sweating like a stuck pic in 70 degree night weather after I was hit.

The only thing I could really think about while I was down was I still have close to 600 miles to drive tonight to get home. How the hell was I going to do that lying on my back & not able to open my eyes?

I still have a pretty nice welt, but the swelling has gone down alot. Nice looking bruise to ad. People see it and ask what happened, I just simply tell them that I took a steel bar to the head Friday night with around 300 pound of preasure. They just look at me with awe & say your one tough SOB to take that & still be standing here today.

If you start puking afterwards, see the ER doc. That could be one of the signs of a concussion.

Don't stop drinking, just start using the gray matter between your ears.

after you rode home did you get sleepy right after that? when i got a mild concussion i went to sleep less than 20 mins later. I was riding my bike downa hill that a quarter miel to a half mile long , and i got to the bottom and had a speedo on my bike. go to the bottom and this is on a gravel road, and the front tire gets in the loose stuff on the edge and i dont even rember going over the bars..i just remember sliding on my back and then knocking the **** out of myself.

oh ya the speedo said 45, it may have been that or faster since it got beat up bad.

I did go to emergency sat afternoon, and got checked out, The doc did a bunch of finger tests, checked reflexes and stuff.
I feel a bit better today, Feel sick everytime i think about what i did.

Now i get to go buy a new cell phone, 3rd one in 6 months. Geez

Don't feel to bad about the phone thing.
I went through four in one month.
They don't hold up too well when they get a bath, or when they are slammed against a wall, or run over buy a truck.

Yeah, They sure dont like alot of things, Like the wall as you mentioned.
Four in one month, wow, thats pretty good,or bad, whichever.

How long do you feel the effects of a concussion after you get one anyway?
I didnt go to work today, felt weirded out, my head feels odd here n there. Dont want to miss any more days. At least I ate alot more today than the last few days, good sign.
