'89 5.0 dieing
I started the truck (been in my garage for 8 months trying to fix it all) after not running it for some time and it starts, idles kind of rough for about 8 seconds and then dies. I can’t keep it running after that. This is right after I get a new CO2 sensor also; I let the computer sit without power for an hour when I replaced the CO2.
I get no error codes from the engine. I have replaced almost all the EFI sensors I can think of. I replaced the MAP, TPS, and CO2. I cleaned out the IAC really well.
I have replaced my fuel pressure regulator to. I had to cap my Schrader valve, as it doesn’t want to hold any pressure now that I used it to check that the pressure was down when I replaced my regulator.
I deleted the EGR and installed the deletion resistors thinking that it was the cause of carbon buildup in the intake plenum.
I also am running the IAC bypass valve to.
Before when I could start and drive the truck a little it had no power and would die when I gave it the gas. Someone said that the catalytic converter might be clogged. This might be true as it was spitting out little chunks of black carbon. I have not replaced it. But this would not explain my current situation.
Any ideas?
I was thinking fuel filter or fuel pump but it seems that I am getting fuel ok.
