I have a 2000 mountaineer 5.0. I am wanting to be able to hook up my lights to my trailer, There is no hook ups on the bumper but there are 2 unused 4 pin round plugs, one on each side up under the bumper behind the taillights. are these plugs for diagnostics or to plug trailer lights into. and if there for light where would I go to get the adapter. any help is appreciated. thanks
Shane
Go to a good auto parts store or a trailer place, you can get a adapter that plugs into left tailight harness and gives you a 4 pin trailer connector. I did that for my 97 Explorer and had no problem towing two trailers for 6 years.
Thanks for the replies, I actually did find a trailer store that had the one that attaches to the driver side pig tail, any ideas on what the passenger side is for? they couldnt tell me. I called a dealership and they couldnt even give me any usefull info. HAHA
