Hey guys i have a BIG problem. i have a '77 ford f 250 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 6.6 engine. Going down the road my brakes fell off. well prior to them falling off the bolt for the keeper that holds on the caliper broke so somehow it grinded the rotor almost down to nothing. then the keeper fell off and so did the caliper so no brakes. anyways I CAN NOT find a rotor and hub assembly anywhere with the big hub not the little one that has six bolts to hold on the locking hub. THese are manual hubs. they have a little one but i called ford and they said they and everybody has discontinued that hub and rotor. So basically my question is will the little one work when there was a big one or what? Can i just get the little one and not put the locking mechinizm on there? Any advice on what to do. Thanks in advance. I need anybodys input because i need to have truck done in two days time. Thanks you.. Jayson
About 4 years ago, Carquest carried a replacement Warn hub and a replacement rotor for your F250 Heavy Duty (HD) that would interchange on to your hub housing. Your truck has the heavy duty hubs and front axle. Talk to the parts man who owns the store or been working there awhile. The new employee will not know where to start looking.
does anybody know where i can find the heavy duty hub and rotor or this truck i cant find one no where!!!!!!!!!!!!!thanks in advance for any and all input!!!
Alright...let me walk you thru finding the parts you need...hopefully you can understand it....here we go
go to Autozone.com
Top left corner, click on "Choose a vehicle"
From the list...select 1977...click it
from the new list...click on 'FORD TRUCK'
click on 'F250 3/4 TON P/U 4WD'
click on '8 Cylinders 400 S 6.6L 2BL'
verify the information displayed is correct, then click "Continue".
Then from the menu on the left...click on "shopping"
Select "Brakes & Traction Control" from the list under "parts"
On this page you will see a list...of all parts possible...pick what you need, order, and be done.
You can even get the OEM number off the other rotor and caliper, and hub, and cross ref them to find which company is making compatably aftermarket parts....
Good luck...If youneed help replacing it..let us know. Might want to check your wheel bearings while in there, re-grease them, youll need a special tool to get the bad rotor off, etc...keep parts in order you took them off, dont drop them in dirt, bets so work in a garage, or lay cardboard down under the work area.
can i just replace the whole knuckle and get the smaller rotor and hub assembly off of a 77-79 ford? and keep my axel or do i need to replace the whole axel? i give up and im looking for other options? Thank you
I don't know why you're having so much trouble finding those things, can get mine at Canadian Tire, UAP/NAPA, online at any number of places. Read and follow colo79ford;s idea. they will have it

Use the existing hub off your truck. Buy new rotor at automotive part store.
Remove rotor by knocking out all the wheel studs by placing a used lug nut over stud, and bang on the lug nut (this will prevent damage to wheel studs when hammering out).
A aftermarket manual locking hubs can be purchased as mentioned in my previous thread.
Measure the diameter of your rotor when you go to purchase or order your rotor. This information will help you when ordering or purchasing your rotor.
