I know that new weather stripping shrinks after you put it on and the vehicle sits in the sun for a while
My question is, What if I laid the weather stripping out in the sun for a few days to let it shrink before I put it on the truck? Would it work and how long would it have to stay in the 100 degree sun or should i put it inside a black cardboard box so its heated, but not in direct sunlight?
I dont want to glue the stripping on and having it get tight and possibly coming off around the corners.
I believe that, actually, the sun stretches it. Cold will shrink it. I redid my entire truck about 2 years ago, including the doors, windows, windwings, etc. I did it on a warm day and was mostly careful that I did not stretch it when installing. It has not shrunk at all.
Good luck!

Go to a salvage yard, find a '99 or newer silverado. Yep, silverado - take the w/s off it and put it in your ford. You'll have to flatten the metal pinch thingy that is molded into the rubber when you go around the floor of the cab.
ENJOY - this is the best secret I've found for weatherstripping. It will never sag off the corners again because of that metal V that pinches down on the pinch weld.
I think it is really the age that shrinks the weather stripping...but as mentioned earlier, just install it when it is warm (not HOT) outside. Make sure not to really pull or tug on it...takes an easy hand is all.
