Posi Interchange ?? Help Please

I have a 55 Ford truck with a 460/C6 combo with a 4.11 gear Posi unit 9" rear end(28 splines). Having probs on Hwy. My eng is around 4000 3500 rpms going around 70. I still have my old third member and I was wondering How hard is that to change ring and pinoin gears???? My old third is a 3.00 gears, I would rather have around 3.55 but thats all I have. Can someone give me a run-down on how to change gears and still keep the Posi(ie how hard, special tools)

If the 3.0 gear is in a third member then the swap is pretty easy. You just need to swap the ring gear and reset the back lash. I would measure the back lash of the 3.0 gear before you take it apart and reset it to that number. of course you should still check the wear pattern but it should be fine. I have a few 3.5 gear sets I could swap you for your 4.1 gear set. I can even set the trac loc up for ya in the 3.5 gear set. Send me a PM if your interested.
