I was wondering if anyone know how to tell what trans you have in your truck with out taking it out to see the number stamped into the side of the case
I have a 78 f150 4x4 with a 351m I just got the truck out of a guys barn and plan on restoring it
Any info would be great

Take the t-case off. The 205 case is really heavy, around 150lbs. The trans itself is around 100lbs, and to remove both of them together, you have to remove the cross-member.

Buy or rent a transmission jack for safety. A doctor bill for a smashed finger costs a lot more than a rental fee.
