Hello to all,
I have an 03 F150 FX4. There is a 4 pin connector on the rear bumper and that is it. Kind of strange i thought for an FX4. Anyhow i have a trailer with a 7 pin connector. I have the dual 7 pin and 4 pin connector which i plugged into the 4 pin flat that was on the rear bumper, however, there are 3 wires left on the add on connector of course. Tail lights, brakes, running lights and turn signals all work. However, the interior lights on the trailer (Haulmark enclosed) are not working and the trailer brake battery is not getting charged. I know the trailer does have electric brakes, and i know they will not work without adding the brake controller. But is there any way to somehow get the interior lights to work on the trailer as well as put a charge on the trailer battery by using the 4 pin flat that is there. Is there another connector in the near vicinity of the rear bumper?

If it were mine I'd take the whole thing loose and start over with a 7 pin connector on the truck. This way you can wire it for any thing you want. I've change all of mine to 7 pin just to make everything match. This is even on the ones that only require 4 pins. Just my .02

I would do that but where do i run the extra three wires, like i said there were was only a 4 pin flat connector back there stock. so would i run the black all the way to the battery or something like that?
Go to any RV supply store (or most auto parts stores) & tell them your problem. They have a plug you insert in your wireing at the rear that will hook everything up. You will end up with a 7 pin connecter.
Also you can go to the dealer and they have a set-up that includes the mounting bracket. This has both a 7 pin and 4 pin connector. Very easy to install. Just plug it in.
apparently you do not have the trailer towing package the fact that it is a fx4 only means its got an offroad package the 4 wire is your basic light trailer set up you will have to either buy the trailer wiring from ford or run your own harness
from the description your truck is not built with any towing upgrades. how much does this trailer weigh? the 4 pin does not supply power for the battery. the 4 pin just includes ground, brake and turn signals thats it. you need to build your own harness. you will need a tranny cooler too.
