power steering conversion

I am trying to convert my 78 400m with c6 to power steering.I am having a heck of a time getting the gear to mount to the frame.The motor mounts seem to be in the way though.Has anyone ever run into this?I am planning to drill out the holes in the frame because they look to be about an 1/8 of an inch too close together.does this sound right?Also I don't like they way the pump is mounted,it seems like the pump hose is too close to the exhaust manifold.Any suggestions.Oh yeah the pump,gear,brackets etc came out of a 73 f-150 2wd with a 400m.

Was the 400 an option in 73????? I would think that either box should bolt up the same.

i didn,t know ford sold a truck in 78 that didn,t have power steering. mudder trucker.

do you have a 4x2 or 4x4? The 4x2's and 4x4's used different gearboxes back then.
I had an 80 F-100, and an 83 F-100 with manual steering and brakes.

the 351m/400 wasn't available until the 77 model year.......my ps pump on my 77 hiboy is mounted to the full-metal jacket that is adjustable on the left side of the engine.......fd
