Hey guys. I have a 96 F250 7.3L with 140K miles and lately when I take off and about to my desired speed and start to let off the pedal slightly, thats when the check engine light comes on and the O.D. light flashes on the shift lever. If I push on the accelerator when the lights are on, it is very slugglish, but seems all I have to do is lift up on the pedal for a second, then push back down and everything seems to be back to normal (the check engine and O.D. lights turn off). I also feel the truck shifting sooner than normal, like around 1200 - 1500 rpm it'll shift into 2nd and 3rd. This problem happens with and w/o a load, and it seems like only the first mile or two down the road. As I have been reading, I will disconnect the batteries for 20 minutes to reset the fault code and see if it happens again. If it does, will this mean my tranny is on the edge of going? Is it worth flushing the tranny to see if that helps, or am I just wasting time and money when I actually need to rebuild the tranny?
Before fixing ANYTHING, get the codes read. You might rebuild the trans and have the same problem. It might not be in the trans, it could be something outside.
Any diagnosis without know what code is set is worthless.
I I have a 1997 F350 PSD 4x4 207.000 miles and the OD light started flashing. I took my truck to a friend that owns a transmission shop. He reset error code and flushed my transmission have not had any more problems. My friend said the error code I had was a torque converter error.
looking for some help? my truck shifts good with a light throttle peddle. when i throttle heavy so it shifts around 2200 rpms it shifts good from 1st to 2nd, and real hard at @ 35mph. the other shifts are ok., is this the converter locking up?? maybe bad clutches in the t/c. any way to disconnect the t/c lock up mode to help find the culprit.. thanks brian

Why don't you start a new thread with your problem rather than enter a second set of problems in with the OP's question ?
