Howdy all, ive herd that 77 and up half tons have a wider frame than trucks made b4 77 and a half, i have a 77 4x4 with a broken frame, so im debating on welding it or finding another frame, and i have a 79 2 wheel drive frame lined up, will i be able to use it for my 77? even if it is wider? or will cab mounts and etc not line up? anyways thanks ahead of time.
frames should be the same width from 73-79, our 77,78, and 79 are all the same. the 2wd frame will need some work to be able to use it, the 4x4 is boxed in the front corner, and has a different x-memeber.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Nov-02 AT 07:05 AM (EST)] I think someone is confused about the F250 High boys...They're the special ones that changed in 77 1/2 to the best of my knowledge. Why not weld and box the frame? I bet you'd have fun trying to break it...LOL.
(Highboys 60's - 77 1/2 F250's) frames are narrower behind the cab than later 77 1/2 - 79 F250's. I belive the diff is 4". 38" in front and 34 in back. All cabs and beds will swap, the beds will need new holes drilled in them though... The F150's all have the same width frame.
Ok thanks guys, im looking at going ahead and welding my current frame for now, and then once this truck is done, its gonna be fun time, as im gonna tear the high boy down for a frame up i think.
