I'm a volunteer firefighter in SFL and I'm trying to install a siren into my 05 ranger. I have the siren head mounted under the seat as well as the speaker to grille and control head mounted in the armrest.
The unit drains .06amps when NOT in use if I'm not mistaken, so I want to wire the unit to only be able to operate while the ignition is on accessory/on so that my battery does not drain while I'm not driving.
Where do I place my positive and negative wires within the ignition system and where is it at?
I would tap into the fuse for the radio, that should only work with the key on. Make sure you go on the protected side of the fuse. The negitive can go to any metal body surface.
