Ditch the Predator and get a flip chip. I have no problem running my 140+hp setting. You will definitely need to upgrade the intake and exhaust though. I would also do the Wicked Wheel.

On the 02 X, I have a 4" turbo back (dp also) banks kit with power elbow, with that I coupled a flip chip 54 / 78 hp. I have guages (egt / boost) but no intake as of yet. I have noticed that the EGTS when getting on it rise very quickly, especially in the 78 tune. I watch the egt's hit 1200-1300, and it makes me wonder how much they will drop if I add an intake. Boost hits 23psi.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I miss the 100 hp EdgeEVO tune for sure. My 2nd/3rd shift in my truck was gone when I got it. Just milkin it around for a bit till our tranny man gets back to me on a price comparison.

"Bigger exhaust, bigger intake, bigger turbo. After all this you'll wonder where the egts and smoke went."

On my 2000 7.3L PSD Im running a 3.5" Downpipe, 4" Turbo back Magnaflow exhaust, 5" tip, Banks Big Head, 4" Cold Air Intake w/ K&N straight from the grill. Blows LOTS ... I mean LOTS of smoke. Bigger turbo? You mean bigger housing? Or just a Wicked Wheel or a Banks Compressor wheel etc .... What other housing might work, and what compressor wheel are you running in it?

Are you guys running the latest Diablo update???

I'm not even seeing near the temps you guys are on the 100hp setting, and I'm using the stock box and a 4'' turbo back Magnaflow.

BTW, My stock tranny doesn't even hiccup with the 100 hp tune...who knows maybe I've got a good one.

Sure is fun toasting those ricers.

My Garrett BB turbo has a 88mm Garrett wheel that came with the turbo. So it draws in a lot more air to lower the EGTs. Also the turbo housing has a 4 inch intake. It spools up a lot faster to burn the extra fuel the Predator is dumping. The OEM stock wheel is only 80mm. If you get a bigger housing only like the ATS which has the 4 inch intake, that will also give more airflow and lower EGTs. Add the Wicked wheel to increase the low end airflow and increase throttle response.
If you add enough air to burn more of that unburned fuel causing all the black smoke, you will be nearing the max potential the performance program was set up for.
But if you don't do any more upgrades, to eliminate the excess black smoke, you have to turn down your program to where it matches your airflow.

Has anyone else seen the cost of the Banks compressor wheels?

Fordafied, I do plan on getting a flip chip in the future when I get some more mods. What kind of chip do you have....? 140 horsepower and how many ft/lbs of torque with it?

The Garrett BB turbo is a larger complete turbo that bolts in place of the stock turbo.

I have the TS Performance chip with the fuel 7 setting. I plan on doing a custom burn in the very near future. I don't know what the torque output is. I know with it in the 140hp setting and the Propane flowing, it is one bad mother.

Then you have Hypertech on the otherside, saying you can tow at thier 100hp setting and you don't even need an EGT gauge!

i agree with that...! one thing though... i have seen a TON of people with more money than brains... they destroy everything they own... cars, trucks, boats... geeze... i watched a guy drive off in a brand new boat about 20 years ago that was worth over 200k back then...! he comes cruising back in 2 hours later with one of the two outdrives completly torn off the boat...! idles back in to the dock, and the boat SINKS as he is climbing out of it...! he walks right in to the sales managers office and says..."i hit a rock doing about 80... that damage is covered under warranty right...?" un-f*(&ng-believable....! i've seen soo many truly awesome vehicle ruined by people who just didn't give a hoot about them... THAT makes me sick...!
