Isn't that the truth!! I knew of someone that bought a brand new 7.3 some years ago. He put in some 100+hp chip and no other mods, no gauges. He blasted around town, constantly spinning tires, blowing smoke.

Blew it up at about 30k. Managed to get it covered under warrantee (don't know how). Got a new motor. Did EXACTLY THE SAME THING AGAIN. Then got rid of it and said that PSDs were junk. Bought a Dodge. Last I heard, the motor survived but he had destroyed a couple of trannies before he sold the "lemon".

He should have turned his brain in on the lemon law...

I find it scarily humorous as well that Hypertech would even venture to claim gauges unnesessary, sounds like a pandora's box just waiting to happen.

I always run mine with the 100hp tune and Banks Six Gun at L3 with low EGT and it only smokes at WOT. It seems to be a well balance system with lots of HP's and good gas mileage.

The rest of the setup includes:
Banks Power Elbow, Banks Quick Turbo, Banks Big Head Wastegate, Banks Six Gun Tuner, Banks 4" Monster Exhaust, Banks TransCommand, Banks Gauges, Banks Compressor Wheel, FASS Fuel System, Granatelli Computer Program w/Predator Tuner, MAC Cold Air Intake.

Is it safe to stack the predator with another chip?

I was under the impression stacking was impossible since the chip would override the programming. One exception I've been told is the Edge EZ box can be stacked with programmers, i.e. Predator, Evolution, Hypertech, Banks,...........

Is it really worth it to stack the Edge EZ box with the Diablo Predator?? How much of a power increase can we expect with that setup?

My opinion would be, no it's not. You're looking at close to $800 for both units, and I don't have any problems getting my EGT's over 1200 as it is. From a standing start, on the economy tune, I'm over 1200 when the clock hits 70mph. I'm considering the Tipton 6 way chip, this high EGT thing has me concerned, and I just got the Predator last week. It should have the lastest update I'm left to assume. This seems fishy as I have done the supporting mods to get the coolest intake charge possible, sans propane, water, etc ........

They both tune different parts of the engine so they work in tandum. They do recommend not to exceed L3 when used with another tuner.

Six Gun
Adjusts fuel injection control pressure to add up to +62 hp and +163 lb-ft
Adds power to stock or stacks with aftermarket chips and programmers—including Banks Big Hoss and OttoMind

Predator
a state-of-the art high performance tuning flash programmer, which advances the timing, optimizes the air/fuel ratio and remaps the transmission shift points (in automatic transmissions).

Good info RJs82Vette..How much of an egt decrease can I expect with an exhaust...?? I think that my egts are running a little hot on all tunes and I'd really like to get those down.

I am running the Predator with the 60 hp tune, Kwik filter, and a Predator ram air from the grill, with the Walker BTM muffler. I dont hammer this truck at all but I was wondering what my EGT's would be 0-60 WOT, Gauges are coming soon, all my money going into my wedding next weekend-!!

I have never seen any thing over 1000, I do get on it every once in awhile, She is so responsive that WOT is rare for me. I did go though a few drive shafts though, thats before I added custom dual CV driveshaft and custom ladder bars. I dont really tow anything unless you want to call a small trailer with HD on it. Not enough to even tell its back there. So I cant really tell you what the EGT would be pulling something heavy. But I do know she drives like a sports car, although a BIG one...

I like your X. Same year as mine but mine is stock height. I also have the Banks exhaust, transcommand, etc. Banks EGT probe is post turbo. I have since mounted mine preturbo. I took out my Stinger plus Ottomind, and installed the Predator and what a difference. This is about as far as I will go powerwise because of the powdered metal rods. My trans is still stock and shifts great on the Predator hard setting with the transcommand.
Nice rack. What brand is it? I was thinking of getting a a rack but don't want to mess up my paint walking on ther hood and the roof. I've seen guy climbs up their seats and doors to get up there too. Any advice on how better to load the rack.
