C6 Stuck in Reverse

I have a 78 F-100 with a 351M. It was tired, so I dropped in a 400 out of an '80 F-250. I pulled the motor out, leaving the trans in place. I wasn't able to get the new motor in place with the trans in place. I unbolted the trans and moved it backwards a few inches, dropped the new motor in, and then slid the trans forward and bolted it up. I started the truck and was setting the timing when the trans shifted itself into reverse and slammed into the donor vehicle parked behind it. I can't get it to shift out of reverse now. I can't feel the linkage shifting the transmission. It is stuck permanently in reverse. The trans was in good working order and was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. Any Ideas?

When you pushed the transmission back if you didn't remove the lever you could have dislocated the manual valve inside the transmission.
Drop the pan and have a look.
