is there an adjustment for the clutch cable on the E50D 5 speed trans?
clutch pedal is about 1/2" lower than the brake pedal.
anyone got a diagram/instructions ? thanks!!
There is a lever arm that is splined on the master cylinder side of the clutch linkage. If nothing else is worn or broken, the lever can be replaced ($20 from Ford) and the pedal can be placed where you want it. Check the plastic bushings on the cross-shaft (the shaft running across the pedal box from the clutch pedal to the master cylinder pushrod) for wear and also check the plastic bushing on the master cylinder pushrod. Watch for free-play in the shaft as you push the clutch pedal. Fix the bushings first, then if all those are normal, try a new lever arm for the master cylinder pushrod. Or, if the master cylinder pushrod is adjustable, then do the adjustment there. I don't know if Ford made an adjustable pushrod, though, so that might not be an option.
There is an adjustable pushrod, I have one on my 88 bronco I also have the M5OD. The adjustment is kind of hidden under the safety switch that forces you to push in your clutch pedal before starting. I'm not sure what range of years the adjustable pushrod came on though.
