Been doing some reading and appears that some Superduty Guys have been replacing the factory Single cd Stereo like my 02 has with the Blaupunkt cd player out of the Ford Focus,, is this worth it?Any better sound quality?Or is it the same just with the bigger screen? And some factory systems have amps, or certain radios require them. Thought they were all built in, if you wanna call a 20w amp, an amp.. I was actually thinking about finding a 6disk\mpeg in dash factory stereo for my 02 Superduty. All i have now is the cassette\single cd player. All my other trucks i always did a complete new system, this time i would just like some kind of factory upgraded radio. Noticed some of the navigator Radios are sure nice. Am I wasting my time, are all the factory radios just junk?
I don't think you're wasting your time. I just traded in my '99 SuperDuty that had the single disc RDS raidio in it (made by Pioneer) and got a '03 SuperDuty with a single disc Alpine radio and the Alpine SUCKS. Big time. Sound quality is worse and it doesn't pull the radio stations like the Pioneer did. The Pioneer's display went out about a year ago but after I got that fixed it was good to go again.
Now I'm in the market for something else, preferably an OEM unit to cut down on the "****** & grab" factor.
I have a single-disc CD player from my previous truck that plays MP3's and is also XM ready so I don't need the separate XM Display. Right now I still have the stock 03 single-disc/cassette player in the truck, and am torn between swapping out the units. My biggest concern is how the smaller head unit will look in the big stock hole.
There's an adapter available to allow you to run a single DIN in the opening or stack two single DIN's such as your head unit plus a disc changer or graphic EQ.
An adapter huh??? Do you know where one could get their hands on one of these? I would like to be able to run two single DINs, that would be great. Thanks for the help.
You could also..... ("GASP! Not that! People actually by from small independantly owned stores?!")..........check out your local stereo shop. I know we stock most kits for most vehicles. Along with the harnesses that plug into the factory plugs.
Funny how some people seem to think we're not good enough to buy from, but we're good enough to answer pages of technical questions. Be a sport, support your local small guys.
I agree, I will check my local shop first, dont worry n_stallr.
Robert6401, For some reason I like your truck. Kind of reminds me of mine. Check my gallery. Looks like you are pretty close to where I live. Maybe we can hook up some day and talk trucks
