I've got a 2000 Ranger, 3.0 with 4wd and an interesting clutch problem.
At times the clutch will work fine, at other times the clutch will have so much play in it, I can't disengage the drive and have to jam the shifter extremely hard to get it into gear.
What could be wrong?
I'm thinking fluid level, air in the hydraulic line, master cylinder needs replaced, slave needs to be replaced.
I hope it's not the slave, because I'd have to take off the damn transmission to get to it.
Funny, mine did something very simular. I bleed the clutch and got a bunch of white looking goo out. From what I've read this what happens to brake fluid when it has moisture.
Any way that fixed it for a while, but I ended up bleeding it a couple more times, removing more air each time. I think that's where I would start.
