Slave Cyl/Clutch Problems??
I have a '97 F-250 HD 7.3 w/ 5 speed. This weekend I had a problem clutch problem. I was in line to get fuel, and I set there with my foot depressing the clutch pedal while waiting for about 2 minutes. When I went to release the pedal, nothing happened, the clutch pedal remained partially depressed and the truck would not come out gear or move. I then took my foot & placed it under the clutch pedal and pulled it up, after that the clutch worked fine. It drove just like normal all the way home. After I got home, I done the same thing setting with the clutch depressed for a minute or so, this time on purpose to see it it would do it again. It did. Any ideas on the problem. My buddy told me that the slave cly. was going bad and sticking and needed replaced?? The clutch catches good and the clutch seems to be real strong. Any sugestions on where to start looking? The slave cyl is full of fluid. I read the thread on the plastic bushing under the dash, could this also be my problem?

the busing on the pedal link can cause this and the master cylinder can also. theres a guy that sells a hiem joint for replacement of that plastic crap.
is the fluid clean ?? if it has a metallic sheen or cloudy, then the master and slave is probably toast even if its not leaking.
