engine dies when pushing clutch
Hi all, My truck has been doing this for a while and I've learned to live with it but I think I'd like to fix it now. Here's what happens, when I make a long coasting stop, 1/4 mile or more, and I wait to push in the clutch till the tach falls to about 600 rpm the engine does one of two things, it dies or it almost dies but recovers on it's own. If it dies it always restarts quick and easy by popping the clutch or hitting the starter. If I push the clutch slower no probs, if I push sooner-700 rpm- it catches itself before it dies, if I push later-500 rpm- it rises right to 600 rpm and never misses a beat. Otherwise the truck seems to run good, starts easy, idles smooth at 600 rpm, and makes good power on the road. Thanks Dan.

sounds like a short circuit to me, or a worn cable close to the clutch pedal. The clutch swithc sends a signal to the computer, if that signal is shorted with something else, it would make sense that it tells the computer to kill the engine for safety.
