Hmm...how about a modern 2-floor log cabin set back in the woods with a long-winding gravel driveway with trees 25 yards from the house, but no trees or shrubs anywhere near the house so the critters can't hide. Also, 2 garages, one for equipment and one for my two classic Ford trucks I'm gonna own (dreaming), plus a large gravel parking area close to the house to park my daily drivers. Then, a nice gravel lot set farther in the woods to park my beaters.
And my parents still wont admit that I'm a little bit of a hick.
3 or 4 bedroom (brick) 'rancher' with a nice long covered front porch (preferably wrap-around 3 sides), on 5 to 60 acres.
Either an attached 3 car or detached 4 car heated/air conditioned garage.
The land can have rolling hills, but, the lawn should be basically. . . flat.
(My current home is on a hill. Cutting grass takes it's toll on my back and knees.)
The land. . . . Tennessee; or Wyoming; Montana; South Dakota; North Dakota; Texas.
My dream home would be one that isn't taxed. What &^$##$@#$$@#!!!! rights does the government have to tax my property!!!!!I won't be able to pay the tax on the home I love when I retire.
Also, a large garage/shop on ground level, of course. Native trees, shrubs, etc, NO lawn to mow! And a stream, pond, or waterfront of some kind would be nice. Well, since it's my dream home, I would be able to slide down a rope from the treehouse to my dock with ocean access for my boat!
My dream home will be a all hip roof house so I can paint it easy Its about 1600 sq ft I'll build it on my 70 acres in La with at least a 40 by 80 shop behind it. It will be above my 6 acre lake & the driveway will be about a 1/4 mile long. I have the house plans already drawn up & will build the shop first. Its my retirement home & I have been planning it for yrs.
4200' Living space, all marble, travertine, granite. Steam bath (room for wife and I) 900' game room, 9' pool table, arcade air hockey.....more to come.
And the MOST important part........1600' attached garage(still too small ) with swamp cooler.
On a 1/2 acre with city views of Las Vegas.
I do envy some of you all's MAJOR acreage with the streams and lakes and such.....maybe next time.

You did say 'dream home.'
Attached three-car and a pole-barn would be good, 4-5 bedrooms better in case friends/family come visit. A/C and heat in the garage unnecessary where I'd have it- Oregon or Washington. And the flat land would mean giving up my view, and I'm not sure I'd do that. You mentioned in a different post you wanted to start your own home-owners association...I haven't forgotten that- it's a great idea!

Two or three bedrooms, about 1800sf, two story Cape style home, complete with a full dormer on the back. Semi-attached two car garage, with upstairs rec area, fully stocked fridge, big screen tv, and nice couch or maybe three or four recliners. Seperate four bay garage with at least two lifts, 10' plus doors, heat and a/c, large enclosed parts storage area, and an outside wash bay.
It would have to be in western WA, probably in the area I am in now, but on a hillside with a good view of the mountains.
It starts with a small island that I have all to myself. Maybe, 3 miles by 6 miles...OK, so not too small. Ideally, it has a large hill in the middle of it, and this is where my house will be. The bedroom will be the highest point of the island, peering just over the canopies of the palms. There would be nothing up there but my bed, stairs down and a ceiling. The walls may have to be bug screens, depending, but the idea is free-flowing air. I would have a large and winding race-track running throughout the island, and one of the straight-aways would be somewhere between 1 and 2 miles long and hundreds of feet wide. I could double it as a runway for bringing in cars to race, as well as my supplies. I'd have a generator and a water purification plant, and eventually, I'd build a few smaller homes around the island for friends and family. The first few months would be the toughest, especially if it's deserted when I get there. I'm thinking the first few things will need to be air-dropped and shipped in.
