Hey guys I am looking for stock Flathead 8 for my 1950 m 47 Merc pickup I went to start putting the engine mounts on and noticed that the engine had seized up while sitting. soooooo I am in need of a good flat head from 49 and newer.

I would investigate the possibility of freeing up that one. Pull the heads and if the cylinders aren't rusted too bad take a paint brush and put some Marvel Mistery Oil mixed with kerosine on them. keep adding it a few days then take a piece of wood and give each piston a good smack. if that doesn't move them be patent and keep doing it. It worked on my Flathead 6, took about three weeks to move the pistons. It had sat for 15 years prior to my purchase. I have run her for a year now with normal oil usage, and it runs great.
Hey thanks will maybe try that I did fill all the cylinders with deisel fuel and have tryed to turn it over but it is still stuck maybe will pull the engine and set on an engine stand in the garage and see if I can get it moving.

Don hopefully the cylinders will only have light rust on them. If your truck is driveable you could push it and drop the clutch in high gear. That was my dads favorate trick to try. If you pull the heads use an impact wrench to avoid breaking a head bolt off. Just be patient and give the lubricant time to work. Flatheads are very forgiving and you will most likely be very suprised once it loosens up. Let me know how it goes, and if I can be of any further help.
