Question for you tuners

Anybody know of someone who has put a turbo or two on their F150? If so, please shoot me some info.

Cheers!
:-)

Should I weld the manifolds together for you too? ;-)

I'm getting closer to putting a twin-turbo 500cid in my F350...

Frederic your such a nice fello. I mean what a reply. Sure if you want you can weld the manifolds up for me and i'll grab a few turbo's and a computer and make my own. a 500cid? sound like fun where do i sign up? F350? bet that's a big watermelon. Frederic do you see stars at night? Or maybe its cloudy where you are. I bet the rain forest is nice. Are you tired?.........................

Woah o.k your probably thinking what the hell. Anyways um i thought about this today and searched twin turbo 302 in google. It revealed many guys that do this to mustangs. But I am sure it would be killer in an f150. A twin turbo would be alot better than a single turbo cause the boost would be instant. i.e - not much turbo lag.

LOL! Ok, ok. Just for some background, I stick mainly to the 7.3 Powerstroke sections as that is one of my turbo vehicles. My two others are a Nissan Maxima of which I rebuilt and swapped in a turbo 300ZX engine and an 88 Lincoln Mark VII which has a twin turbo 5.0 in it. :-)
THe reason I am asking about the F150 is for my father-in-law. He does a lot of pulling (5th wheel trailer) and is quite the car guy. Well once he saw all the turbo work I am doing and the HUGE difference in power, he wants to explore putting a couple t's on his truck. I did pick up a set of INCON manifolds for him to check out, these are the manifolds most Mustang guys use, but the trouble is finding the right turbos for those manifolds for the right price, they are too expensive.

So, that in mind, we are looking at other options which use more mainstream turbos that stick with the T3 flange types. The main reason for asking about info on doing a turbo install on an F150 is to pick someones brain about what they used, how they did it, what were the road bumps, etc., etc. :-)

So, a twin 500cid huh? Why not go diesel and get some real power?!?!?! ;-)

Nobody here has done it? Fair enough. We have almost all the parts together with the exception of one turbo (second one was cracked). I'll be sure to post some pictures and text once complete. Should be interesting.

Cheers!

Thanks for the update.
Are you going to have to swap heads & intake to make the exhaust work?
Cheers,
Popa Tim

Nope. Stock heads and intake will work just fine. With this install, all he is looking for is a solid 5-7 psi boost, nothing too major.

Moose - that was sarcasm

I was essentially saying he should ask more specific questions. Not "give me everything you have".

Most of us who have been around a long while are more than happy to help anyone who needs it. But, we do like people to do some research on their own, then ask questions when they get stuck, or don't understand something, or need something engineering explained in english.

And I am a nice fellow, except on tuesdays.

Between home repairs and remodeling, working on several truck-related projects simultaniously, and a newborn, I'm always tired. I have managed to survive on 4 hours sleep, and two pots of coffee

As far as a twin-turbo 302 goes... while that's been done and is a neat project, with all the work involved in doing that, why not put together a 460 (stroked or not) and turbocharge that. Any turbo lag you might experience, is immediately irrelevent if the engine is large enough - even a low compression 500cid stroker like I'm building, will have plenty of power off the line, while the turbos spool up.
