drivetrain swap
Wow what a website! This is the s@%* where else can you go and get sacred knowledge what ever that is. I have a 1973 f-250 2wd longbed with a 360 in it now. I am doing a swap for a 460. I would like to shed some weight from my 3/4 ton suspension. I found a 1973 f-100 or 150 with 9 inch rear and smaller frontend. Should I just swap the rearend for the 9 and keep the front end on my truck that has those big 4 piston calipers. And does anyone know if it will bolt up with no problems or if a lincoln 9 inch rearend will bolt right up. Oh theres a dana 60 in my truck now with 456 gears(gas hog). Thanks Chad

If you are going to a 460, then you will want that D60 in the rear. The 9" works great, but is expensive to build to take that much power. Plus, you have 8 lugs on your truck, and the 9" uses 5.
