Briefly, I am in the middle of rebuilding a 390 from the best parts of a 390 and a 360. I also figure on putting together a good 360 short block for another application out of some of the "pretty good" leftovers.
Camshafts: I have been trying to identify the two cams I have in hand, both of which appear to be in good shape, and have the following numbers:
390-- F25 SF63 C1 D1 CC CMC
360--[upside down A]U 4
I assume the 360 cam is stock since it also appears to have a FMC logo cast into it. It is the first one (390) that is eluding me. Can anyone tell me what cam this is?
Also, I am trying to identify the pistons I still intend to use, which were in the 360. The number on the inside is 1131 92.
That sounds like a Crower cam. Is the CMC a CWC possibly?? My Crower has C2 D2 markings on it also the CWC. This is just a wild guess but they have similar markings. I think I gave you specs on the Ford 360 cam but if that was someone else I'll post em if you need em.
Thank you for the quick response. I'll look at the 390 cam again and follow the Crower trail. As for the 360 specs, that was somebody else. Any help is greatly appricated.
It seems the "AU" cam is a hyd 390GT and 428CJ cam with a C6OZ-6250-B Ford number. You sure it's a 360 cam? Maybe the same cam was used in the 360 possibly? I'll get the specs.....BRB.
Ok the AU cam was a 66-70 390GT/428CJ item. Duration .256/.256 and lift .438/.438 with 37 degree overlap. The 360 cam is a I .427/ E .431 lift 68-76. Sorry no duration specs on the 360 but I'm sure someone can tell you hopefully. G.
