I stopped by the dealer the other day and checked on the big recall for 04 trucks. My truck is on the list for CAC tube, wireing harness, reflash, EBP sensor, EBP connector check, ICP regulator and sensor check, bla bla bla.
Has anyone had this done, did your truck run better or worse after. My truck runs great and I do not want to screw up a good thing.
Buba 11:
Yes, I had the above done on my 04. I thought it ran good before but it definitely runs better now. I was really lucky in a way as my truck starting the surging thing as I was pulling up to the service lane. They did some diagnostics and replaced the EGR valve assy along with all the stuff in the warranty actions.
Even though your not having problems now, git er done! It's not if you have problems it's when. That lame plastic CAC tube can blow off at any moment rendering that fancy truck worthless in the middle of the road. It just isn't worth it. The hard part is finding a good dealership with a solid diesel repair program.

Just got mine back after having all the above done. Lost my pilot injection :-( but it ran fine on the way to work this morning. My CaC tube blew off and tore a chunk out of the insulation blanket. there was a truck at the dealer that did not have the insulation blanket and it had a nice Dent in the hood. Go with the cable guy! Get-R-done.
And just think, everyone thought the 03's had problems. I did have a battery cable "check", took 10 seconds, no problem found. Got 19mpg the other day. I'm waiting for a recall to fix that
