Any time a sensor affecting the PCM is changed, Ford recommends disconnecting the negative battery lead so that the PCM relearning correct air/fuel mix and engine operation, 10 minutes disconnect is enough to erase the RAM in the PCM. Allows for sensor variations in manufacture and installation.
Engine may not run smoothly during 10-20 mile re-education.

Also, anytime I replace a sensor part, that sends a signal to the computer, I like to disconnect the ground cable overnight. That might not mean anything, but I do it anyway, and don't have any other problems.
