I've spent the past hour researching threads and still have these questions.
I'm not sure I am going to be able to get the aussie heads. I still need to get up to at least 10.5:1 but prefer 11:1 for my propane build. It's probably a $600 gig to get the aussie heads and all the seats hardened- chrome(??)
Can I mill the block down?
or the stock heads if i have too?
I will get the build kit from TMI http://www.tmeyerinc.com/ to include the flat top pistons and 255deh cam, roller rockers, double roller chain. Passed on the roller lifters until next build. I have the performer intake and will be getting the propane carb- already have the other propane parts ordered.
My block is being pressure tested and will have to be bored to 040.
Biggest ? is the heads vs compression- any input is appreciated
OK then- guess the aussie heads are back in- will have to forgo the dentist for another month.
With flattops I should end up with about 10.5:1. Might mill the block 010 to get around 10.8 or so.
How does that sound then???? No more dual fuel that's for sure.
also- how about cleveland 4v exhaust manifold- I have a set available and i guess they flow great, since propane needs more flow- thought it might help??? and would let me save $$ on headers right now to make up for aussie.

Do you know what your deck clearance is? You need to get to below .050 in order to achieve quench. If you dont you will still ping. Also that cam will lend itself to pinging as well. Have you talked to TMI about your idea? The one thing I have no knowledge of or experience with here is propane. Does it have different characteristics than gas? Which pistons are you getting? With the Badgers you will be way down in the hole, about .080 without any milling. The other ones TMI sells he can cut to any cr you want. I would be sure to talk with him about all this.
propane has a much higher octane (108-113ormore) and ping isn't a problem up to 13:1 compression. I still want adequate quence for performance and will go with TMI for engine kit. Might wait for his new pistons or mill the block if needed.
