66 chrome windshield trim
On Friday I will be pulling my broken windshield out and need to know how you get the chrome trim out without wrecking it? I don't plan on putting it back, but somebody else might need it. Does it come out before or after I pull the glass?
Also, can I use any silicone adhesive to install the new rubber or does it need to be something special? (I read your post FBP, and you didn't say what kind to use
)I'll be doing the back window too, so I was really glad to find that post!
Thanks,
Judi
You do know trim gaskets are available as well as non, right???
I think the trim adds a lot to the truck.

I cut the gasket from the outside as I said, to remove the reveal moulding because I ALWAYS use a new Gasket when R&R'ing a windsield [or back glass]. New gaskets are available and reasonable, but most of all they are pliable and seal much better than an older used gasket. I could spend more in my time, than cost of a new gasket trying to seal an old one, so I urge my clients to get a new gasket and be done with it.
If you find you must seal the gasket there are compounds made by 3M and SEM and others for that. They are usually Butyl Compound, black, and non hardening, or do not brittle with/ over time.
Again Avoid Silicone it wreaks havoc with paint, use soapy water because it washes clean when you're done and will not give you grief later on. . . . trust me on that. As you can see John is telling you the same thing.
I'll contact you via Private message on FTE & tell you how yo get in touch with me.
