Frontier Vs. Ranger

Frontier Vs. Ranger
I was wondering how you guys thought the Frontier stacked up against the Ranger? I am looking a buying a new truck, and love the Rangers and everything, but somewhat tired of the lack of changes to the Ranger! The Ranger is still based on a 93 platform! Anyways I would like your opinions on which one you think is better, as I am considering to get a new truck soon.
Thx!

I don't see that you can really compare the two. The Fronty is a mid-sized truck and the Ranger is still a small truck. The Ranger has been a pretty darn reliable truck even though Ford has cut content on this truck so bad that it is just barely there anymore. The Fronty has an engine under the hood that is in the top ten quality engines in the world. It makes a bunch of HP (265 to be exact)to be in the Fronty platform. The tranny is the same one that is behind the 5.6 V8 in the Titan so it should hold up really good. They are quick with most reporting 16 mpg town and 21 hiway. I see two things that are a negative for the Fronty. The resale value on Nissan trucks is horrible, even worse than a Ford. I know, resale values are in the toilet no matter the ride but Nissan is having a hard time getting over the Hardbody trucks. The other bad is that they most likely have the same quality interior that a Titan does and that means cheap. The Titans interior is noted for falling apart due to the cheap plastics. The Fronty should be more money than a similar Ranger. The XE (el cheapo) with a 4 banger, standard will cost around here, $16,000. The Ranger XLT Supercab can be had for $13,000 with a V6, auto, radio, CD, etc. If you need the room of the Fronty, give it a try, otherwise, I would stick to the reliable but dated Ranger.

I agree with you Flash except that i owned a 87 'hardbody' that I put 196k miles on it before I sold it without ever turning a wrench on the engine, save for a starter. The guy I sold it to put another 20k on it and sold it.
I agree on the quality of material in the interiors although the truck I had never had any problems. My girlfriends 2003 Xterras' interior looks ok although the fit of pieces leaves a lot to be desired......mismatched joints etc...
I say go with the Ranger myself.
