I am thinking of buying an electric winch just to have one. I'm going to use a front mounted hitch platform so I can remove it when not needed. The Warn and Ramsey are nice but costly. Right now there are good deals out there on the Mile Marker brand. Anyone have any info on these? I'm pretty cautious off road so I hope to never really need a winch so the Mile Marker are attractive alternative. Thanks.
My friend has a Mile Marker E12000 on his super duty. He is pretty happy with it, we have tested it briefly hooked to my truck and it didn't bottom the winch out (it did move his truck on pavement though).
I have a warn 8000 on my jeep with a multimount (plugs into reciever front/rear). The multimount is nice being able to pull from either end. Plus being able to take it off so morons cant steal it. I am not sure but I believe the Warn multimount is only rated up to 9500 maybe the Mile Marker mount is different. I am guessing with your truck you would want something heavier like 12k. The rule I have heard is 1.5 times your vehicle weight should be winch size.
Offroading I have used my winch alot more to pull other people out than I have to get myself out.
