I just bought a 2015 350 lariat only problem is the back up camera markers don't line up w/ rear tires. so when im trying to back up in my driveway the markers show im 2ft off the driveway when im not. this suck I keep having to re-park because im to close to my wife's van. just bought Sat. and I guess im going back to the dealer also the picture quality is not as good as my 2011 350 was
I found my camera just as good as my 2011 and what I like is that the picture shades colors so you know what is making it beep. Green, yellow, red and hopefully I never get to the bang indicator.
I never checked to make sure the lines lined up with the tires, only that if the lines are centered in a parking spot, typically so am I.
Seems like every new vehicle I get with a backup camera needs some learning on my part, so the good news is. You'll figure it out internally assuming there isn't something wrong with yours. BTW, my wife's backup camera in her Volt is horrific and that is even after the dealer change it. It went from almost useless to horrific.
I noticed that too on mine. I use the big protruding reflective thingies on either side of the truck for alignment and the camera to make sure I don't hit anything. You just have to change the way you park.
The markings on the '12 Expedition I had lined up with the wheels. These markings seem to line up with the painted parking spot lines in most parking lots, to help you center the truck I guess.
You know I've never even looked at that !!!
and I back into parking spots EVERYTIME I can, just easier to maneuver and easier to get out... (after all you will have to back up some time, so why not when you KNOW what's around you as you pull in )
I just center it on the parking spot lines and go for it...

This is also my method. Mirrors for alignment and camera for collision avoidance. Well, I do use the camera for trailer hitch to ball alignment (which it is awesome for).
I use the mirror a lot as well... And yes, better to back in when you can, because you know what is around you when you do it, harder to get boxed in, and god forbid you needed to leave it a hurry you could... That camera has saved me from running into things more times than I can count. Still makes you wonder how you did anything without a backup camera. Of course, now I want a front camera, since I can never seem to pull up as much as I should on the times I end up having to pull headfirst into a spot.
As far as hooking up a hitch, boy did they make that easier on the '15. That zoom function on the touch screen, zooms right in on the ball....

I'm envious of the zoom function. It came available the year after mine. Wonder if there is a way to upgrade?
I think it started in 2015 for the Super Duties; none of the owner's manuals for 2013 or 2014 mention it. Which is surprising because my '13 F150 had the zoom function.
And I don't think the guideines were ever meant to mark the projected location of the rear wheels. Mine never did, and it makes no mention of that in the owner's guide. I think they're just reference marks.
Now I'll have to check the lines on my camera I never use the camera for anything other than hitching or a quick check to make sure no small cars are where I can't see them when backing up.
I use the mirrors for backing into parking spots as I can see the outer wheel in the curved mirror. I also back into parking spots as it's easier to get into a tight spot with the steer wheels outside the spot than inside. Unless I just wheel into a parking lot and take 4 spots
I will say the wife's audi Q5s had the curved lines that changed based on how much she turned the wheels to give you an idea of where you would back up to,
but she was still able to back into one of the trees lining our driveway
