Hello All,
I am getting a trouble code that I do not know what to do to fix it.
Please help. The code is:
538 insufficient rpm change during KOER dynamic response test.
What does that mean and how do I fix it?
Thanks
Wow, an easy one! Sounds like you read that right out of Chilton's. My copy is from "97" so pages may be different, but under "Driveability and Emissions Controls" page 4-48 I quote " Certain Ford vehicles will display a Dynamic Response code 6-20 seconds after the engine ID code. This will appear as one pulse on a meter or as a 10 on the STAR tester. When this code appears, briefly take the engine to wide open throttle. (WOT) This allows the system to test the throttle position, (TPS) MAF and MAP sensors.
If you ran a KOER test and got a 538 all it means is you did not hit the gas at the right time. Unless you got other codes your engine is fine as far as the puter is concerned. Hope this helps, Karl.......
I'm glad you asked this question and I'm glad Karl answered it, I too recieved the same error code even after replacing the TPS which was a pain in the A*s. When exactly are we supposed to depress the throttle? I have an INNOVA OBD2/OBD1 code reader.
