Flatbed prices

I have a buddy with a 1996 F150 reg cab longbed who is looking for a steel flatbed to swap on it. He was wondering what a reasonable price was for new and used flatbeds. Nothing fancy, just a painted black one is what he is looking for. We are going to a couple places that sell knew ones but were wanting an idea of what they usually cost. (ballpark) Has anybody checked into this? Are shortbed ones much cheaper than the longbed ones (although he needs a longbed.) Also, if he wants to sell his current bed (which is in good rust/dent-free shape with factory bedliner-no rust underneeth), what would be a reasonable asking price? The location is midwest illinois. If anyone knows of a reputable flatbed dealer in the illinois/iowa/missouri i would appriciate any info to pass on to my friend. Thanks

The short ones run cheaper, unless they have a headache rack installed too. I'd say a good one will set you back about $2000.

I've seen aluminum beds with a headache rack for a longbed for $1600 brand new. This place is probably a little out of your area..its near the Pennsylvania/Ohio border.
