I expect to see Michael in a Toyota in the cup series in couple of years as either an owner, a driver, or both . My guess is that he is involved in a development deal, why else would he quit DEI? He has to have something in the works. Maybe Darryl is going to start a cup Toyota team.
They need to change those tracks some way so the restrictor plate can be done away with....
Mark Martin had a suggestion a few years back. Take the rear spoiler off. Let them run as fast as they want and see who comes out of turn 2 pointed the right way.
I dont think you will see Toyota in Cup that soon. They said when they were forming the truck teams that they wanted to win a few championships before they moved up. With all of the new factories that Toyota is building all over the world and with their involvement in Formula One, I just dont see them in Cup that soon.
Id say they are AT LEAST 5 years away from having a cup team. The main reason they are doing so well in the truck series is because they have a lot of former Cup drivers driving for them. Not to discredit their work (they have done a great job) but you could put Skinner, Todd Bodine and Johhny Benson in any other brand of truck and Id bet they would do just as well.

Then you could rename it the Nextel Demolition Cup! LOL

Yeah, I don't think they'll be heading anytime soon. And we haven't even heard if they've submitted a Busch car for approval. It's getting rather late in the year for that. . .
I don't know, they haven't exactly set the truck world on fire yet (well, neither has Ford this year, but Ford is the least represented manufacturer). Toyota only has 1 win this season. Looking at wins, the trucks are dominated by Dodge and Chevy.

Naa. The concept is the same as any other track where they can't run wide open. Make them back out of it else they'll wreck. Wouldn't take long for the drivers to catch on else the owners would put someone else in that could finish a race or at least qualify. Think about it. What they're doing now with the "airo package"? stuff is crap. They still run wide open. They just don't go as fast. They might have more power when they're in traffic and aren't wide open, but most of the time they are. It's better than it was, but it could be better.

on restictor plate races why not limit displacement for the Datona and Talledaga races? the huge budgets of the cup teams should be alble to handle it.
Does it really matter where he goes? He is a sponsors gold mine. He has little success in his career when you campare him to alot of the "big name" drivers. What this guy has is a personality for the camera. Does he ever give a interview whithout going up one side of the fire suit and down the other? He never leaves anyone out. Also, you cannot go very long without seeing his mug in a commercial. More than anyone else who drives. Gordon comes close but not that close. This sport has become all about money. The racing is second. So I bet the sponsor has a much input of who hires him as much as the team owner.
In my opinion, haven't the owners spent enough on solving trying to solve the problem of "safe racing" at Talledega and Daytona? The Frances seem like the cheapest rich folk alive. I once read that some teams spend half their budgets for these places. Unreal, especially if you bring home a wrecked car in the "Big One". I believe there are 2 ways to fix this:
Knock down the banks already. Why do 2 tracks over 2 miles long have over 30 degrees of banking?
