So what your saying is.......you don't have a set of those "bling bling" wheel covers on your truck....the kind that keep on spinning? Or a cool lookin cobra head on your shifter....the kind where the eyes light up everytime you step on the brake?.......man.......

LOL. Don't forget the black lights under the car and in the wheel well. Or the strobe lights behind the wheels to really show off those spinner hubs.
Great source for filters if you live really close....really sucks for those of us out in the boonies.
Still cheaper for me to run down to the local Napa, Walmart, or any other parts shack.
$11 for UPS ground on a 6637 filter to my zip.
I PMed Brian awhile back and told him of a comparison I'd made between UPS, and the USPS. There was a savings. I told him that he could move some filters if he could get the "cost plus shipping" in line with the total costs at local resources. Maybe he'll look at it......I couldn't say. He hasn't gotten back to me as of yet.
I just ordered the 6637 filter from FleetFilter just 10 minutes ago to complete the KWIK filter mod. I still have the stock airbox so I also ordered one of the stock filters as well. (Have to run to Florida before I can start mod) Total for both was 31.00 with 9.00 shipping. 40.00 total, I pay 30.00 for a stock MC filter and still have to pay shipping.
I also have 3 school buses that have the same cummins motors as the Dodge and I am going to cross reference those part #'s as well to check pricing.
Very good source.
Just got the 6637 for my 02 PSD.
Does the filter need to be oiled?
I upload pics of my setup once installed.
Brad
no oil or bigger clamp needed on my 02 install.. the only thing i did was to trim the tab off of the stock intake tube that you hook up to the 6637... cutting off the tab on the tube lets you slide it further onto the filter..
The 6637 went in like a charm.
I ran around town, 10 miles or so. When I opened the hood the metal casing around the filter was VERY hot to the touch. Is this normal? I guess under hood temps can get pretty high?
Also, I got on her pretty good after the filter install. At about 3000 RPM when i let off the gas I hear a whooooosh sound (not whine of turbo). Is this back pressure or something from turbo?
Also, when I'm getting up to 3000 rpm i hear a screaching sound, not a turbo whistle, you guys have something similiar? I just bought the truck, and want to make sure everything is right with it.
Thanks
Here is the results of the install.

1. Temps are higher during "in town" driving......as you suspected. The temps to the filter will drop some at highway speeds.
2. The Whoosh sound your hearing is the intercooler and associated plumbing depressurising when the turbo is no longer pumping boost.
3. The screaching sound is probably your serpintine belt slipping.....it may need replacing sometime down the line.
Hope this helps.
just something for you to think about... that "whhhoooosssshhh" was always there... you just couldn't hear it with your stock box on... that should give you some kind of idea how restrictive that box actually is.... all the noises you are hearing now if because that box isn't there muffling them... your mule is STARTING to run they way it should...! now for a new 5" exhaust..! then a programer or a chip...! a bigger tranny cooler, ccv mod, wastegate mod, but FIRST... you gotta get GAUGES...! if you don't have them already... get those next..!
I am curious....
Has anyone tried to bolt up the 6637 to a performance intake system like the Afe or some other system that includes a new tubing???? I was just wondering if I could use the 6637 on my AIS when I get it. I'd rather use that then the K&N, but was worried about clearance issues.
Is there a K&N cone sized version of this Filter? Ive got a custom 4" cold air intake tube routed up to the grill, with a K&N on it. Doubt that big ol bettie would fit up in there.
The Guages are going in wednesday.
I'm going with 3 guages in the A pillar. I'm also doing 4" turbo back at the same time.
I've got a 1705 superchip now. The pig should move.

Thanks for the info Johnny8
no problem bro...! one other thing... if you have an auto.. i HIGHLY reccomend the sonnax mod... it will make a HUGE difference in how well your drivetrain can use all that added power...!
I was under the impression the 1705 increased line pressure to tranny.
Is this not enough to protect tranny?
I've got a new tranny in the truck now, it's still under warr. Will this mod void warr?
