Well, My 95 CC PSD 2X4 Dually was in the shop getting an upgraded tranny (4EOD), so I thought WTH and got them to throw in a set of 355's.... What a difference! It's so much more fun to drive, it dropped the rpm at 100KM from 2000 to 1600 (admitedly some of that may be the new tranny/converter) but it sure uses the torque of the PSD a lot better. It almost seems to have MORE power than it did with the 410's... I haven't run it enuff to see what kind of difference it makes mileage wise, but at least I can keep up with traffic without wearing earplugs!
I had mine rebuilt at a shop that has a very good rep here, The owner seemed really knowledgable and I got a 2 year anywhere in north america warranty.I wound up with a 2 disc TCI billet converter and a whack of upgrades (as well as the normal rebuild stuff)...I didn't have to get the upgraded planetaries as the tranny had been rebuilt/upgraded before and the owner apearently opted for a stock Ford converter that failed.. He took the time to discuss what levell of mods I'm looking at and what kind of towing I'll be looking at in the future... He wants it back next week to check it out and put the synthetic in the rear end.... Cost for the tranny/converter installed was $3700 CDN (including the 14% tax) The rear was $900 out the door for gears and all diff bearings/seals etc.
That's not bad, especially installed. I'm about to order a tranny off the internet, and I'll end up paying about the same without the labor. Man, that's a heck of a tax ya'll have up there... Enjoy the new stuff!
