scam email
i am tired of all the scam emails i get. don't these people understand we are smarter than that. i get the same one now 15 times a day. here it is.
Dear Friend,
I'm happy to inform you about my success in getting those funds transferred
under the cooperation of a new partner from paraguay.
Presently i'm in Paraguay for investment projects with my own share of the
total sum. meanwhile,i didn't forget your past efforts and attempts to assist
me in transferring those funds despite that it failed us some how.
Now contact my secretary in Benin his name is BEN STEVE on
bensteve@ParsiMail.com
ask him to send you the total of $800.000.00 which i kept for your compensation
for all the past efforts and attempts to assist me in this matter. I appreciated
your efforts at that time very much.
So feel free and get in touched with my secretary BEN STEVE and instruct
him where to send the amount to you.
Please do let me know immediately you receive it so that we can share the
joy after all the sufferness at that time. in the moment, I?m very busy here
because of the investment projects which me and the new partner are having
at hand,
finally, remember that I had forwarded instruction to the secretary on your
behalf to receive that money, so feel free to get in touch with BEN STEVE,
he will send the amount to you without any delay.
Regards,
Barrister Jon Mbeki Esq
how stupid would you have to be to fall for that.

The one I get that I like says that he's a lawyer from Brittain, trying to get in touch with me because some millionare with a last name the same as mine died with no relatives.
Well the thing of it is is my last name is JOHNSON, so that narrows it down to 1/17th of the worlds population.
All I have to do is send money or something to help process the claim.
I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but dang my blade wasn't broke off neither.

I got an email years ago that I thought was a scam at first glance. It was about as long, or a little longer than the standard Nigerian scam email. The thing about it, the spelling was perfect and it didn't really ask me for money. It was a detailed instruction with timeline of what to do with money, lots of money. Probably had 8 - 10 transactions with a total of probably $150 million to move over a 2 week period. The dollar amounts threw me off.
I held on to that thing for a couple days, trying to figure out if it was a scam. I'm very picky about email security, but was worried this might be legit and money could be lost. I finally replied telling the guy he should probably check the email addy. (Turns out he was off a letter.) We sent a couple back and forths after that. The guy was a lawyer for an aquisitions firm out of London. He deals between New York and London all the time and he thanked me for sending the email back in time to do damage control. Interesting guy with an awsome job. I told him I could invest a couple grand or would be available for work if something lucrative came up. Said he would keep it in mind - I'm still waiting...
I've got my email filter tweaked to the point that I might get 1 scam email a year now, (I remember getting 15 - 20 a day). I just blocked the sender when a new one popped up and picked grossly misspelled words to search for, ( Barrister is in there and I'd probably throw Benin in, too.)

Heck,
What's funny with my batch of scammer mail is that they all come into my yahoo box, which is for junk mail only, really.
I get the same loads from all sorts of banks I have never heard of, Paypal--don't use them anymore, Ebay--not routed to my Yahoo box.
The funny thing now is how they say something to the effect of "If this message has come to you and this account is not yours, we will prosecute you for fraud! Respond or else..."
Kettle...teapot...BLACK!
I have had a few of those "Let us wire you money and we will give you a share" mails. I get offered like 35%, but I fire off an email saying "I get 65% or you pay" and they never email back.
