Need After-market seats - BADLY!

Can anyone recommend a good after-market 40-20-40 seat?(Preferably that will use the same mounting holes) I have an '03 SD reg cab with Captain's chairs and they're killing my back. Have seen many on the net but don't wish to plunk down that much cash without either sitting in them or at least getting some good recommendations. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
R0cky

What about the 40-20-40 from a Supercab. No problems with mine.

I'd say I'd trade you if they were the right color and you lived in Mass

Bet you would. Problem is I like mine and want to keep them. Have you tried a bone yard?

R0cky: We had a similar situation with lack of support in the right places in a Chevy Van that my oldest son drives. Went to the junk yard and got the electric seat from a similar van - problem solved.

Are your seats electric and do just do not have enough adjustments available to make the captains chair fit your bod? If not, try a RV outfitting place for a fully adjustable electric version or perhaps your seat can be mounted on the electric mechanism?

Just a thought...

Check for new seats from upfitters/conversion companies, particularly in northern Indiana. I've seen seats, rims, dash panels, etc. for sale in used car "swapper" magazines that come out every two weeks and are found for sale in gas stations and such. These seats would be factory stock seats, both cloth and leather.

I hate the manuel 40/20/40 in my new 05 F250. Should have got power seats. The front of the seat sets to high and there is no way to adjust them. The seat itself is very comfortable and the lumber adjustment is great. Could a person retro fit a power seat base to the stock seat.

HJP: Yes you can retrofit however the parts to do so ala carte from Ford are outrageous. Suggest finding seats from a junk yard (what other year seats are the same as yours) and mount your seat on the electric rails/mechanism from the junkyard seat. If I am not totally mistaken, the factory wiring for the electric seat should be under your carpeting.

Check out E-bay for seats. I got a rear 60/40 out of a 2004 CC. I replaced the one in my 2003 CC that was a bench. This was last year. The seat I got was a new factory take off from some custom interior maker. When I was looking I found quite a few front seats for sale.
I agree with RangerRuss Getting parts from Ford is too pricie. When I was looking, Ford Parts did not have a part number for complete seats. The only way to get a seat from them was buy each part separately. About $4000+ I found the complete seat for $400 and shipping was $250. In my case, I had to buy the 3 addition self-taper bolts to mount the new seat but the floor board already had the mounting bosses welded to the underside. I drill out the floor board for the additional bolts and mounted the seat using the 4 original + the 3 new bolts. Not sure about front seat interchangeablitiy, but......
