Well I tore apart the driver side steering knuckle of my Dana 60 on my 78 F-250 and unfortunately two of the studs were damaged beyond re-use, hey, they've been on there for 28 years so I'm not too surprised the nuts wouldn't come off and I figured "no big deal, I'll swing by the hardware store..." I have been to every hardware and auto parts store in a 15 mile radius of my house with no luck, anybody know of an online hardware store or have a parts truck with a '60 on the front cuz I'm at wit's end here. As it is I gotta special order (cha ching $$$) a 7/8 inch socket driver from snap-on because I can't seem to get it anywhere else.
I'm not talkin about the wheel studs, I mean the 4 threaded studs that hold the top plate with the steering arm on above the top king pin, if that's what your local shop has then I'd love ya ta mail em!!! I gotta go back to NAPA tomorrow and see if they found their catalog, they said they might be able to order em but they might have to get a box of 50 and in that case I have to buy the box for around $60 to get the 4 that I want.
Try contacting superlift or one of the other lift companies that carries raised steering arms for your truck to be lifted. They may know where to get one or have a part number you can take. Sometimes you can have things shipped overnight express from around the world cheaper than local places down the street, and in less time.
Ok, I got the parts, has anyone else done this job though? I'm putting a 3/4 inch breaker bar with a cheater bar on the top King Pin and I still can't even budge the darned thing!!! I weigh 200+ pounds and I am not being gentle. Has anyone gotten this thing to unscrew?

if you dant have a impact put the breaker bar on there pull on it and have some body hit the end of the breaker bar buy the socket with a 1 pound sledge hammer the shock is what helps break it free
Thanks for the input, I have an impact wrench but it's only a 3/8 drive and the upper king pin laughed at it. Soaking it with WD40 has gotten me nowhere, the torque spec for this thing is 500 to 600 ft/lbs!!! I'm thinking about using my come along with the breaker/cheater bar combination. Maybe if I set that up and pull it until it's really pulling I can whack the socket end myself... gonna try it when the snow melts.
They are a bugger to get loose. You need to use a RoseBud tip on an Oxy/Acetelene torch to heat the knuckle and a good 1/2 or 3/4 impact wrench turned up full power. When reinstalling use the perminent Loc-tite.
I WIN!!!! I finally got that danr thing off... I went out and spent big $ on a new 3/4" Impact Wrench and borrowed a friend's nice new air compressor(mine isn't so good)and it didn't even budge!!!! Heated the knuckle up, still no movement... Now ya gotta remember I have been religiously soaking this thing with WD-40 for 3 weeks now also. I was fed up so I finally went to Lowes, bought a 8 foot long 4x4 fence post, drilled a 1" diameter hole about 14 inches deep and slid it over the end of my breaker bar... the end of the fence post around the breaker bar started to split so I tightly wrapped it with cotton clothes line type rope the length of the section I drilled and then I soaked the rope with water to really tighten it up. Then I pushed on that thing as hard as I could and all of a sudden SNAP, the kingpin came loose. I really hope I never need to do the other side but for anyone out there that needs to do this job, do NOT spend $300-400 on a impact wrench, spend $5.49 on a fence post instead. Thanks to all for your suggestions.
