I know this will more than likely get moved but i wanted to post this in my year/series forum to see what i come up with.
After spending a small fortune i still have a truck that no one can seem to get a straight alignment on. Everything on this truck was replaced with stock parts from the balljoints and coil springs up front to the rear leaf springs and still the tops of the front tires are leaning out, has anyone gone thru this yet and what did you have to do to get it fixed , im beginning to think the alignment guy at my local ford dealer is just to lazy to do whatever it takes to get it done right
Also i was told by the shop where i had my tires/ball joints put on that
"these trucks come from the factory that way and there was nothing that could be done about it" which i think is a bunch of bull , there are a few 4x4's of my vintage/bodystyle that i pass on the road on a regular basis and they dont seem to have the problem mine has with the top leaning. Im open to any ideas/suggestions here.
You need different camber adjustment bushings (more negative, apparently) installed by your alignment guys. Very common practice for Fords when aligning the front end with worn old springs or replacing with new.
Are those adjustment bushings at the top of the ball joint? i was looking under there today and noticed the ford garage changed a few things that were installed at the time i had the ball joints replaced.
Find a private shop (no chain) install ingalls upper bushings Dial in PERFECT alignment. With no worn or bent parts & quality tires & shocks,it will drive like a limo on rails with perfect tire wear. http://www.ingallseng.com/
i have a similar prob with my 90 4x4, i had the whole frpnt end replaced, with new parts, aligned up, then a year later lower ball joints went bad, alignment done again, was negative camber, but within spec. I opted to go with a lift kit rather than factory coil springs due to price....almost the same, got a 2.5" susp lift brought it into the alignment shop in a couple months i had -1deg of camber on both sides, so i chose to had the bushing sleeves installed, brought it to +.3 deg, i had it sent in again today, alignment changed a little, but it seems as though you have to babysit the front end...lol
