Well Greg all and all a good show!! Ya made it home on your own power..Plus you now know what has to be worked out!!
And a 99mph trap speed aint nothin to sneeze at.... At 4700lbs and 99mph that would put a best ET @ 13.59.... So its there !!! Oh by the way...was that on street tires???
transmission fluid is leaking out near the top of the transmission. There's a bolt up there. Is it overfill releif or something? The tranny acts like it wants more fluid, still having to rev up a lot to gte things moving. But, after filling it some more this thing started eaking fluid out that bolt near the top. Should I try to tighten the bolt? (a beeeotch to get at, I bet. I can barely see it from the passenger side in the engine compartment)
Greg That wierd..I have never heard of a C6 leaking from a top bolt?? Doesnt meen it hasnt happened... Buy just that I'am not aware of??
You can Always get ahold of my Tranny man....at greggmary@charter.net and tell him RapidRuss sent ya..and I'am sure Gregg could answer your question.. He's a real nice guy...He's the one that did the C6 for the Stang...
Hmmmm, did not know there was a bolt that should have fluid running from it on a auto tranny?? I know nothing about them...but I would think there is something wrong here. There is a vent tube up there(if I remember being told once?) Seems it would only run out there if it was OVER full and hot.
Maybe the ol' convertor loosened up a bit more?? Really making it a 4500 stall?? LOL!! That would be a great towing convertor...LOL!!
yeah, it's got Type F in it. it's obviously not coming from inside the bellhousing. At least not the majority of it. It also appears not to be coming from any of my hose connections. It really looks to be coming from this bolt near the top/outside of the bellhousing.
man, it's always something. We finally got the motor running pretty good.
I've got my C6 in all apart right now. There is no bolt on the top of my transmission casing. There is a vent hole. It has a round metal cap on it. The vent hole is near the bellhousing. I think you have to have this vent hole. Otherwise the trans can build pressure and this would cause leaks at seals. Fluid should not come out the top unless the trans is WAY overfull or it's overheating. I've had one overheat badly and burb alot of fluid out the top. Other than that I've never seen fluid come out the top of the case.

I know how you feel. Try to get something and clean it all off. then run it for a little bit until you can see where it is coming from. That might be able to help you some, but i am not real sure about that.
I dont know anything about a trans and not to much about anything else.
Here , you can see the object I'm looking at. It's not really a bot as I first thought. It's on the top of the ranny, just as the bellhousing starts to neck down. You can see it just below the firewall in this pic. I'm quite sure this is where the fluid is leaking from.
If you have been having to really rev it to get it to move...they you are probably overheating it and causing it to overflow?? Do you have a tranny temp gauge??
If it is all of a sudden "slipping", then there are issues. Thus causing the overflow from heat.
